Our psycho-oncology services
Physical illnesses often affect our mental well-being. This is completely normal. A cancer diagnosis in particular is often accompanied by a great deal of uncertainty, worries, fears, feeling overwhelmed, and many questions. Some people experience the diagnosis as a real shock. In addition, side effects may occur during medical treatment, e.g., as part of chemotherapy, which can significantly affect and change everyday life in general. For example, your ability to perform may be reduced.
However, cancer also affects the social environment: the mental well-being of relatives/friends, living together, and communication with them. In addition to the cancer diagnosis, such strains can significantly impair overall well-being.
Services
The psycho-oncology services include
- Supportive and relieving conversations
- learning suitable relaxation and visualization techniques
- counseling on how to deal with stressful family situations
We offer relatives the opportunity to share experiences and receive support in our relatives’ group. We offer individual, couples and family sessions. These sessions can often take place during your inpatient or day-clinic stay. We are also happy to meet with you at the end of treatment. If you express the wish, we will discuss with you how things can continue for you at home after discharge.
