Our Approach
Whether accidents, tumor diseases, chronic illnesses, or environmental factors: unfortunately, there are many reasons that take a toll on the body – we help our patients regain a positive sense of their own bodies. Safety is our top priority. We perform breast reconstructions using the patient’s own tissue, both in a single procedure and in two stages. Our plastic surgeons are involved in planning breast cancer surgeries from the very beginning. The experts in our oncology departments remove as much tissue as necessary to ensure safety.
Whenever possible, we use only the body’s own tissue to restore body image. Local flap procedures and skin grafts are among our standard procedures. We have particular expertise in free flap surgery (microsurgical tissue transfer), which allows even large defects of the skin and soft tissue envelope to be reconstructed.
As part of transgender surgery, we perform mastectomies and breast augmentations. Furthermore, following the appropriate urological procedures, we perform microsurgical phalloplasty, preferably using tissue from the forearm.
In the surgical treatment of lymphedema, we use special microsurgical techniques, among other methods, to restore lymphatic drainage. As a persistent complication, lymphedema is a common side effect of cancer therapy – and it can now be treated surgically. Swelling of the upper extremities, as is often the case with breast cancer patients, or of the legs, which affects, among others, people who have undergone surgery for prostate or ovarian cancer, occurs when lymphatic vessels are damaged by radiation or tumor growth, or when lymph nodes are removed during tumor surgery. As a result, lymphatic fluid builds up, limbs can swell, skin and tissue can be permanently damaged, and those affected become susceptible to infections such as erysipelas.
Supermicrosurgery opens up new possibilities. We can dissect the smallest lymphatic vessels with a diameter of less than one millimeter, create new connections, and restore the flow of lymphatic fluid.
In addition to reconstructive and microsurgical procedures, we offer the entire spectrum of aesthetic surgery as well as minimally invasive aesthetic treatments, allowing us to respond individually to the wishes and needs of our patients.
