Hospice work is becoming increasingly established in Germany. Nevertheless, the initial confrontation with the term “hospice” still triggers fears and reservations in many people – unnecessarily so, as we would like to demonstrate here.

The word hospice translates to “inn” or “shelter,” offering insight into the essence of hospice work. In the true sense of the word, it is about providing shelter to people on one of their most difficult journeys in life – namely, during severe illness and dying. A place where they can rest and find solace.

A place where they and their relatives can unburden themselves and receive attentive, dignified care for their own sake, in every respect.

Due to the palliative-hospice developments of recent years and the associated progress in caring for the seriously ill at home, more and more seriously ill individuals wish to remain at home or die there for as long as possible. Therefore, Outpatient Hospice Services have made it their mission to mobilize the concept of inpatient hospices and transfer it to the home environment of those affected.

With the help of many qualified and tirelessly working volunteers, Outpatient Hospice Services contribute to fulfilling the wishes of numerous individuals – enabling them to live in their personal “shelter,” their home, until the very end.
