Cancer Centers
With our certified specialized oncology centers at Evang. Kliniken Essen-Mitte, we offer every one of our patients a safe haven for their oncological disease under the umbrella of an Oncology Center.
Your safety is our highest priority. For decades, we have therefore centralized our oncological specialties, which are closely networked with one another, in order to provide you with the best possible treatment. Center-based medicine offers the great advantage of pooling expertise around selected areas.
Our patients benefit from: certified oncology centers with the highest level of professional expertise, many years of experience from the therapeutic teams, and comprehensive treatment, as well as numerous clinical trials – and thus from modern medications and therapies even before their official approval. The high medical, nursing, and organizational quality is continuously verified and thus guaranteed through re-certifications.
The added value that our patients feel at Evang. Kliniken Essen-Mitte is the humanity and closeness that we live every day as an institution with Christian roots.

Multiprofessional Teams
The interdisciplinary collaboration within the individual centers and departments of Evang. Kliniken Essen-Mitte is something that further enhances the positive effects of center-based medicine. Multiprofessional teams are what make individualized treatment for our patients possible. Short distances, rapid appointment scheduling, and quick diagnoses streamline processes and contribute to the success of the treatment. In addition to specialists and our oncology nursing staff, therapists from the fields of exercise and nutrition therapy, psycho-oncologists, family therapists, chaplains, and social service staff are also part of our core teams. Furthermore, complementary naturopathic therapies offered within our Clinic for Integrative Oncology and Supportive Medicine are particularly well received.
Tumor conference
All cases of oncology patients are discussed in a circle of experts. We call these sessions “tumor boards.” The goals of the tumor boards are to develop an individually tailored treatment plan for each individual regarding their respective disease, stage, and the latest scientific findings. In doing so, we adhere to guideline-based diagnostics and therapy, consider aspects such as age, general health, and nutritional status, and coordinate closely within the participating specialist departments.
Outpatient Tumor Center
In our Outpatient Tumor Center (ATZ), the most important treatments for our patients take place according to the motto “door to door.” Radiation therapy, drug therapy, necessary acute diagnostics and follow-up checks, outpatient palliative medicine, and psycho-oncological care – all of this is offered here in a centralized manner. Our doctors, therapists, and specially trained nursing staff are at your side with empathy and practical support in the facility’s special atmosphere.
