Breast reconstruction using your own tissue
Breast cancer treatment may require the removal of breast tissue, sometimes the entire breast. Plastic surgery now offers modern reconstruction techniques. There are numerous ways to replace removed breast tissue in order to restore a natural and aesthetically pleasing breast shape. In addition to breast reconstruction using, for example, silicone implants, it is also possible to use the body’s own tissue. In this context, DIEP flap reconstruction is the method of choice: the breast is reconstructed using the patient’s own skin and fatty tissue from the abdominal region.
As a result, the breast feels natural and will adapt to age-related changes.

Comprehensive plastic and reconstructive care
Many other cancers, as well as conditions following accidents or infections, also require comprehensive plastic and reconstructive care. Our multiprofessional team performs reconstructive surgery primarily using the patient’s own tissue: from skin grafts and local and regional flap procedures through to free, microvascular flap transfers. Your safety is always our top priority.
Surgical treatment of lymphedema
If optimally performed conservative therapy does not achieve the desired outcome, or if the disease progresses despite it, surgical techniques can also be used to significantly improve symptoms.
A very gentle technique is lymphovenous anastomosis (LVA). Through a small skin incision, the lymphatic vessels and veins located directly beneath are identified, and an operating microscope is used to create a bypass of the blocked lymph drainage via the venous system. This prevents lymph fluid from backing up in the vascular system and leads to a reduction in swelling.
In addition to the gentle yet highly effective LVA technique, there are further treatment options to reliably treat even advanced stages. With the established technique of lymph node transfer, lymph nodes are removed from the abdomen or groin on a vascular pedicle and transferred, for example in breast cancer patients, to the armpit to relieve the lymphatic congestion there. The advantage of this technique is the usually sustained regeneration of the lymphatic vessel network.
In our interdisciplinary lymphedema centre, we treat patients with a wide range of symptoms and disease courses.
Our experience in treating lymphedema has shown that collaboration between specialties is essential to achieve therapeutic success. To reduce long-term consequences, early detection and the right treatment of this condition are crucial.
Lipedema
Lipedema is a chronic and progressive disorder of fat distribution that affects almost exclusively women. Typical features include symmetrical fat accumulation on the legs and arms, often accompanied by pain, swelling, and an increased tendency to bruising (hematomas). The condition often occurs during phases of hormonal change—for example during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause. One of the most effective forms of therapy is liposuction (fat removal). In this procedure, the pathologically increased fatty tissue is removed in a targeted manner, which can lead to noticeable relief of symptoms and improved quality of life.
Transgender surgery
At our Transgender Surgery Centre, we offer a wide range of procedures for feminisation and masculinisation. We use unique surgical techniques that we have been able to refine over recent years. We provide open advice and explain the entire process. Even in difficult situations, you will find understanding and empathetic contacts with us.
Aesthetic surgery
In addition to reconstructive and microsurgical procedures, we offer the full range of aesthetic surgery as well as minimally invasive aesthetic treatments, enabling us to respond individually to the wishes and needs of our patients. With many years of experience and expertise, we are distinguished by the safe and precise performance of aesthetic breast surgery, body-contouring procedures, aesthetic facial surgery, and intimate surgery. We also offer injection treatments with botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid fillers, and collagen inducers for wrinkle treatment and volume restoration. Our physicians regularly attend continuing education courses in cooperation with the PAAU Academy and the DGPRÄC to ensure we can offer you the most modern treatments with a high level of safety.
Elective hand surgery
In the field of hand surgery, we operate, for example, on carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, or Dupuytren’s disease, a connective tissue disorder of the palm that can lead to limited finger extension. We also offer surgical treatment options for tendon sheath constrictions, painful ganglia, or osteoarthritis of the thumb carpometacarpal joint.
